Update – 9/16/21

This week, the existing asphalt surface on Fremont Center Road and IL RT 60 was milled. Once this was completed, the pavement was then cleaned and primed. The prime coat is intended to provide adhesion between the existing pavement and the subsequent asphalt lifts.

Fremont Center Road and IL RT 60 were then paved with a thin lift of leveling binder. This lift helps to eliminate any irregularities in the pavement and provides a smooth riding surface prior to the final lift of asphalt.

Later this week, drainage structures located within the pavement will be adjusted to their final elevations. Concrete electrical handholes and foundations will also be poured.

Next week, longitudinal joint sealant will be installed and the final asphalt surface lift will be paved. Landscaping along the north side of RT 60 is also expected to take place.

Please continue to check the project website for updates.
