Construction work began last week, starting with tree removal along IL RT 60 and Fremont Center Road. Demolition of the building at the southeast corner of Fremont Center Road and IL RT 60 was also completed. This was necessary to allow for the realignment of Fremont Center Rd to the east. This week, Fremont Center Road from W Erhart Road to IL RT 60 was closed to through traffic. A detour was implemented utilizing IL RT 60, IL RT 176, and Gilmer Road. Please visit the detour tab on the project website for more information. Pavement removal of the existing Fremont Center Road has begun. Some of this material will be recycled for use at other locations throughout the project. Earthwork operations are expected to continue into next week. Temporary pavement was also installed along the north side of IL RT 60 and traffic was shifted further north. Work will be confined to the south side of IL RT 60 and Fremont Center Road during this stage. A work zone speed limit of 45 MPH is now in effect. Please use caution when navigating through the work zone. Please continue to check the website for updates.
